ABA has a long-standing relationship with SIG, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of specialist building materials.

With an established and sizeable customer base in the North East, the derelict and former Newcastle
Federation Brewery complex was identified as the ideal opportunity to bring together on one site, all 5 of SIG’s constituent businesses.

Furthermore, this regional scale site acted as “prototype” for the entire group, influencing what would happen in the 15 countries SIG trades in.

The scheme involved demolitions, the regeneration and extension to several dilapidated warehouse units, along with the overhaul of traffic ways.

The completed “super-centre” operation includes extensive distribution warehousing facilities, regional offices and a customer trade counter to serve the local customer base.

ABA’s full offering of Architectural, Design and Project Management services, from the initial measured site survey all the way through to snagging and handover was invaluable to the successful delivery of this huge redevelopment project.

All of which has proved essential to our continued partnership with SIG and involvement in further regional and national scale developments.
